Friendship and Love, Victory and Defeat at the Winter Screening of HSE Student Animations

On January 30, the Rovesnik bar will host a screening of outstanding animations by students of the HSE Art and Design School. The programme features more than forty animated works exploring the themes of friendship and love, victory and defeat, and simply fun stories. In addition to artistic animations, visitors will be able to see advertisements, promos, and videos for nonprofit organisations. All of these works were created by students based on briefs from real clients.

The screening will take place at the Rovesnik bar.

Polina Kampioni, head of Animation under the Animation, Illustration, and Computer Graphics department at the HSE Art and Design School, animation director, animator:

‘The exam period recently ended and reaped a wealth of great films. The screening will showcase the newest films created by students of the Art and Design School in the last six months. These include prosocial videos that have gone beyond simple briefs and become full-fledged films, as well as reflections on the themes of love and separation, and just crazy, bold works by students who were not afraid to dive headfirst into the world of animation.’

Big Animation Festival Features 12 Works by HSE Art and Design School Students

This year’s Big Animation Festival featured a number of films by HSE Art and Design School students and curators. Out of 1,501 applications received from 89 countries, the Festival jury selected 95 films to participate in the Russian competition and 90 for the foreign one. Cult Film Characters and a Bicycle Projector: How HSE Art and Design School Alumnae Created Video Clips for Moskino

Animated Films by HSE Students to Be Shown on ‘Culture’ Channel

On the 250th anniversary of the birth of Russian writer Ivan Krylov, third-year students of the programme ‘Animation and illustration’ (supervised by Elena Kitaeva) of HSE School of Art and Design revamped and gave new meanings and forms to the works of the writer. They prepared 10 short animated films based on his fables that will be aired on the TV channel ‘Culture’ (‘Kultura’) throughout the week.

HSE Student Victorious at Russian Animation Festival

A second-year student in the Animation and Illustration course at HSE’s Art and Design School, Ekaterina Mikheeva (curator Alexey Ermolaev), was named a prize-winner at the 23rd Open Russian Festival of Animated Film, which takes place annually in the city of Suzdal.
